Women in Logistics: Celebrating Women’s History Month at Traffic Tech

March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women across industries. In logistics—a field traditionally dominated by men—women are making significant strides, breaking barriers, and driving progress. According to industry reports, women account for approximately 22% of the transportation and logistics workforce globally. At Traffic Tech, we’re proud to surpass this statistic, with 51% of our workforce being women.
To gain insight into the experiences of women in logistics, we spoke with a few of our female leaders across our global offices about their perspectives on the industry, the strengths they bring, and their advice for future generations.

Ida Grev, Director of Nordics
What unique strengths do you think women bring to logistics and supply chain management?
“I believe that women possess many fantastic qualities that serve us well in the logistics industry. It’s no secret that women often take on significant responsibilities at home and in their careers, having a natural ability to multi-task, prioritize, and demonstrate emotional intelligence. These are critical skills that benefit both colleagues and customers.
Women are highly responsive to customer needs and go the extra mile to deliver outstanding service. We also value teamwork and the well-being of our teams, which ultimately leads to better business results. Additionally, our attention to detail and ability to anticipate needs contribute to a more efficient and effective logistics industry.”

Alexandra Orjuela, Customer Service Representative, Bogotá, Colombia
What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned as a woman in logistics?
“One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is to never be intimidated or underestimate the power of your ideas. The key to success in logistics is teamwork, and speaking up can lead to innovation, stronger collaboration, and improved customer relationships.
I’ve also learned that adaptability is essential. The logistics industry is constantly evolving due to advancements in technology and shifting global demands. Embracing change and having a willingness to learn are critical to growth in this field.”

Maria Mayor, Operations Manager, Bogotá, Colombia
What advice would you give to other women looking to build a career in logistics?
“The only limits are the ones we set for ourselves. There is no challenge we cannot overcome, no goal that is beyond our reach. Logistics is a dynamic and powerful industry, and women are at the heart of its success.
To aspiring leaders: Embrace challenges, find your niche, and stay curious. Be resilient—your unique perspective is invaluable. Confidence is key, so express your ideas with conviction. You belong here just as much as anyone else. Never doubt your capabilities and remember: we are capable of achieving anything.”
